WineShouts – 03/27/2015 Edition

Happy weekend wine lovers!  We’ve put together a few spots where you can get your wine on this weekend in L.A.  and points North.  Know about another great spot or event this weekend or upcoming?  Please let us know in the comments or send us an email (see below).  Cheers!

Cochon 555 – Epic Food/Wine Fest (Santa Monica) – 3/29/2015

5 Chefs, 5 Pigs, 5 Winemakers.  That’s the slogan for this travelling food contest where local chefs utilize the whole hog to make a number of dishes, and if you buy a ticket, you get to eat them and vote for the winner.  Endless local food and drink options included.  You really need to click on their link above to see all the great local folks involved.  The winning chef goes on to compete in the national final.  Absolute no-brainer for this weekend if you have the time.

Garagiste Festival:  Southern Exposure (Solvang)

The Garagiste Festival is focused on showcasing tiny winemakers and those just getting started.  Particularly they focus on wineries making less than 1500 cases per year.  It’s a great way to explore new wines, meet and network with budding winemakers and to find some real gems.  These are folks who don’t have tasting rooms and they really want to meet you and show off their juice.  Always a fun, friendly event with great access.

Bubbles and Bagels at domaineLA (Los Angeles) – 3/29/2015

The weekly Sunday tasting at domaineLA this week is Bubbles and Bagels, from 2-5 PM on Sunday.  5 sparklers served along with bagels from the Yeastie Boys, who are so fresh, they don’t even have a food truck yet.  As always, domaineLA is on the hip pulse of the LA scene.

Rosé Soirée – Celbrating top SBC Rosés (Los Olivos) – 03/28/2015

Spring is in the air, and that means Rosé release time.  This stuff rules and I can never get my hands on enough.   Here we have 5 great winemakers celebrating their 2014 Rosé releases at one great event with Tapas  and music and plenty of wine flowing.   The wineries include our favorite, Kaena, plus Blair Fox, Dragonette, Barbieri and Tercero.

Corks & Kegs Fling (Newbury Park) – 03/28/2015

Have some fun and support a good cause.  This is a fundraiser for the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer sponsored by a local team.  Happening in the Village at Dos Vientos Ranch, there will be wine and beer tasting and all you can eat tacos.   For all you DVR folks out there, be sure to grab some tix and ride your bikes down to the Village for some fun on Saturday night.
