WineShouts – 04/10/2015 Edition

Happy weekend wine lovers!  We’ve put together a few spots where you can get your wine on this weekend in L.A.  and points North.  Know about another great spot or event this weekend or upcoming?  Please let us know in the comments or send us an email (see below).  Cheers!

Jordan Tasting at Wally’s (L.A.) – 4/11/2015

Jordan Winery makes wonderful Cabernet Sauvignon from the Alexander Valley appellation in Sonoma County.  Wally’s is doing a vertical of 5 vintages from 2002 to 2011 (current release).  If you aren’t familiar with Alexander Valley style Cabs, we highly recommend a drop by, as Jordan is one of the benchmarks for this style.  Much more elegant than a typical Napa Cab, these Cabs have tons of character and drink beautifully.

Sheila’s Wine Bar (Camarillo) – All weekend

@805Foodie posted a great note in her VC Star article today about Sheila’s Wine Bar in Camarillo.  The owners’ son is on the chef track and is home from the CIA in Napa for the summer and just did an externship at Providence (in our opinion, L.A.’s finest restaurant at this moment).  The son is working in the kitchen this weekend with Sheila’s full time chef on some new creations.   We haven’t had a chance to check out Sheila’s yet, but this sounds like the weekend to do it!

Wine Extraordinaire – mass tasting (Anaheim) – 4/12/15

The Orange County Wine Society is hosting their annual mass tasting at the Anaheim Hilton on Sunday.  If you’re trolling the OC for wine this weekend, this is your stop.  They focus on wineries under 35K cases in production and have dozens of wineries represented, as well as food from local restaurants and all the trappings of a big tasting event.  Fundraising goes to scholarships for viticulture and culinary degrees.  So your imbibing efforts make more winemakers and chefs for all of us.  Soldier forth and enjoy.

Michael David Wines and The Bruery at Wades (Westlake Village)

Head to the killer tasting room at Wade’s Wines this weekend to taste a line up of wine from Michael David Winery (you know, the 7 Deadly Zins folks).  If you’re more on the beer tip instead, they are tasting beers from The Bruery, which is a Couch Wine favorite.  Also, don’t forget that they have more than 100 other beers and wines available to taste at any time as well.
