WineShouts – 05/22/2015 Edition

Happy Memorial Day weekend wine lovers!  We’ve put together a few spots where you can get your wine on this weekend in L.A.  and points North.  Know about another great spot or event this weekend or upcoming?  Please let us know in the comments or send us an email (see below).  Cheers!

Your Backyard!

That’s right, the best place to drink wine this weekend is in your own backyard.  It’s time to kick off Summer.  Drink Rosé!!!  You know we love a good Rosé here at CouchWine.com.  If you’re ready to expand your Rosé vocabulary, find yourself a nice Rosé of Pinot Noir.  Luscious wines full of strawberry notes with a dry finish.  Great backyard chillin’ and grillin’.

Off Market Street Progressive Cornhole Tournament (Ventura) — 5/23

This is perhaps the worse (or best?) name for an event I’ve seen in years.  But it’s real.  The members of the Off Market Tasting Trail in Ventura are hosting a FREE Cornhole Tournament that moves from venue to venue as the day goes on.   Few things in America go together better than drinkin’ and cornholin’ (you can quote me on that).  So take the opportunity to taste (And buy! Always buy the ones you like!) from this group of fun loving booze merchants that includes Four Brix Winery, Plan B Cellars, Surf Brewery, The Cave, Blendz Wines, Poseidon Brewery, and Panaro Bros Wines.  You know we love The Cave, but we have never had the chance to Cornhole in The Cave! (mic. drop)

California Festival of Beers (SLO) — 5/22 and 5/23

Okay, so it’s not exactly wine, but I bet you can find some wine there somewhere.  Just make sure to do it before you’ve finished sampling all 200+ beers on hand, as you’ll likely be walking a little slower at that point.  One of the older beer festivals in California, this is typical beer event filled with pony kegs, jockey boxes and growlers.  Do beer-tasters politely spit out their tastes so they don’t get loaded, just like us snooty wine-tasters do?  Talk amongst yourselves.

Upcoming – Beekeeper Tasting at Wally’s (Los Angeles) — 5/30

Ian Blackburn’s label, Beekeeper, is a great expression of what California produced Zinfandel can be.  Wally’s is featuring Beekeeper in their Saturday Tasting next week.  We highly recommend you drop in and check it out!
